how do i know if my phone is running on GPRS, edge, or EDGE. i came from a BB 8700c and it would display what type of network your operating on, does nokia have some kind of symbol or something to tell which one its on?
I've never seen the "E" symbol on the N93 even though I've tested at speeds of about 168 kbps. I've even streamed a 192kbps audio stream on the T-mobile network at night (it never works during the day with all the extra traffic).
me neither, and I'm in an edge area. It says in my manual (even though it is in Vietnamese) that the connection symbol shows you are connected to a GPRS/EDGE connection, so there really is no way to tell.
the E62 has two different symbols, one for vioce and the other for data. two short horazontal lines with a bar through them means vioce only and two long lines with arrows at the ends means edge
i dont know about that. i have been using series 60 phones for the past 4 years and even my newest e62 does not show an E for edge. also, i have yet to see the E symbol in any nokia manual. ill have to check out the n73 manual. but from what i have known nokia has always been G, 3g, or the two lines with arrows
My N80 and N73 both showed an "E" when I was on EDGE, switching back to the little antenna with GPRS. They both still had the lines below indicating status.
I believe that's from my N73.
I stand corrected, though, cause this is from my N80.
That's really weird, as my N80, updated to the most current via NSU, didn't ever show the 'E', nor did the n93 I tested or my e61, though the N73 does.
the n80/n73 i had/have both had E's when connected via EDGE. Once in a while if I go through a no-reception zone and come back, there will be the regular antenna, but it'll still be going at edge speeds.
