how to tell if my fish is sleeping or is it in a better place now help!?

It depends, but it is rare to feel a fishes heartbeat but just pull him out and try and feel a pulse:Also fishes don't sleep one side of the fish sleeps then awakes then the other side sleeps its kind of odd but do some research on it.

ok so i got a new fish last night. he usually hangs out at the bottom of the tank. he is laying at the bottom of the tank now, but his gills are not moving i nudged him a little and he did not move. is he sleeping or is he in a better place now? i see very slight movements but it is probably the filter. im very nervous i hope he is ok.

Two years ago - My daughter won a goldfish & she still takes care of him - he's the loneliest creature around, but he's alive & I found that it's important to have greens. One time he got some kind of white crud growing like leprosy - & I gave him chlorella in his tank, since we don't have fresh green plants in there. It did the trick & cured him. I recommend chlorella for humans too. It's powerfully good. Eat your greens!

look up what kinda fish it is on the net and find out if that is part of there behavior if not sadly your fish might of went to a better place

if u move em and they dun move much.
That means they are ill or in a process to die.

if he's on his side or upside down he's dead.

if you think that he is, scoop him out and if he wriggles and flaps, hooray! but if he doesn't ):

if she behave like this all the trime , u had better to buy a ston instead of it
