how to talk to a guy you like!?

well, i have been talking to this guy for a while on facebook, we seem to be getting on and he always talks back to me when i talk to him, and he has even started a convocation first on number of occasions. we are in year 9 btw, and he DOES go to my school. loads of people know i like him, including some of his close friends, but i made them promise not to say anything! its really awkward trying to talk to him in person. i think he does like me, because we have made eye contact and stuff (you know, little things like that) loads of times now. but the thing is, he seems to find it awkward to talk to me too, we have had a few moments were we could have both clearly have spoken to each other, but we don't. i just don't know what to do.

any ideas?!?!
