Ok, so I bought a Siamese fighter fish and put it in a crystal clear tall vase, and I am currently feeding it "Cliffi Vegeterian Flakes" which is supposed to be fed to herbivorous fish. I am feeding it 2 flakes per day, and I am changing the water of the vase every 2 - 3 days and adding 1 drop of "Biotopol PLUS", which is a water conditioner that neutralizes heavy, toxic metals and chlorine in the water.

For some reason I have a feeling that what I'm doing is wrong... Can someone tell me if I am doing anything wrong?

Hello? I think you should get it a 5 gallon tank. It feels bored stiff! A tall vase isn't good for your tank, it will be harder for you r fish to go up to the surface to eat or breathe!Buy a 5 gallon tank, and decorate it well.
Like what i am doing. all i can say is , if you wanna rear pets, make the best out of it.

he needs a 2.5 gallon or larger tank
he needs a heater because he is a tropical fish
and also a filter
bettas are carnivores so he needs proper betta food
in ideal conditions you should change 20% of the water weekly

you need to do research BEFORE you buy an animal

Bettas don't belong in a vase because they are tropical fish that thrive in temperatures in the low 80's, that's impossible in a vase. The temperature fluctuates too much in a vase, thus weakening it's immune system. Bettas are carnivores, they need to be fed high protein fish diet. Feeding the vegetarian flakes will definitely make them prone to disease. He's eating them because he has no choice. It's like feeding your cat lettuce, it's just not going to work. Bettas are much better in at least a 2.5 gallon with a heater and slow-flowing filter.

dum ass ur gonna starve it!!!! give it 2 SHAKES a day and dont over feed it!!!

You're doing many things wrong:

1. Stores keep Bettas in small containers because that is the only way they can keep them separate. But this is not ok. You must get a full size aquarium for him (at least 12 x 12 x 12 inches).

2. You also need to get him a heater set a about 78F and a filter for the water. You canNOT keep in something like a regular goldfish! Some people do, it is cruelty.

3. He is not a herbivore (vegetarian), he needs "betta flakes" or "betta pellets" (whichever brand you want), and to be feed frozen blood worms or other food that was once alive and is now a frozen insect.

4. You need to get him some medicine to keep on hand in case he gets sick. Bettas commonly get fin-rot, tail-rot, velvet, ick/ick, and other fungal diseases. you can buy a bottle that will treat all these.
