How to switch phones on verizon?

okay so i broke my phone i have for verizon and i got an old enve 2 i want to turn on and i want to know how i can do it by myself? and does it charge your account when you do this? and does it get rid of your early upgrade if you have one cause i have one but i am not in town and i want to go to a certain verizon cause they will give me deals but im away and i need a phone. thanks
