How to swing your sword faster then normal on halo 3?

Recently me and my friend were playing team swords on multi team and everytime we swung at the other team and we would hit at the same time they were awlays able to swing again and kill us before we even were done with our first swing.
 
haha there is no way to swing faster its all in the timing. trust me. the other person must have swung a lil bit b4 you. guy above me is incorrect the b button is not a strike like you say the others were doing. and combining the b and r button will do nothing. the b button is useful however if you are relatively close to the person you are about to beat down.
