So my dog is just over a year old. she used to whine a little bit when i would leave her but it has recently escalated. Looking back i realize i should have dealt with it right away. So here is her problem now.
Every time i leave the house i used her in a crate or in a small room where she wont destroy anything ( she likes to chew). She doesn't usually whine when i put her in her crate. but she cries when i put my shoes and jacket on and then stands by the door hoping shes coming with me. She also when i get home is SO excited to see me its like i have been gone for years.
I have been recently ignoring her and not giving her any attention when i get home till she settles down and am probably going to just practise putting on my jacket and shoes and not actually leaving a rewarding her when she is calm and quiet. Hopefully this helps.
She also has a problem whining when she can see or hear me but is not with me. one example of this is when i put gas in my car she can still see me through the window but constantly whines and this drives my bf nuts when he is sitting in the car with her. im not sure what to do in this situation, i ignore her but my boyfriend tells her to be quiet. should he ignore her as well?
Any suggestions on what else to do for any and all of these whining , separation anxiety behavioural problems i would be so grateful
