How to stop a whining Doberman from whining?

OK people I'm not going to lie to you. I am a bad dog owner. I have a one year old Doberman (male). I feed it on time and i never hit him for any reason.
My job is a truck driver and i have a wife who hates dogs and never wants to do anything with our dog. I am hardly home because i work long hour shifts. My wife however stays home and takes the dog out for a potty and a leak.
My problem is that my Doberman won't stop whining. He always want attention like he's supposed to.I know that he is supposed to get a walk and be exercised but i don't get time. How can i stop him from whining without walks?
I know most of you will say to find time and get him his walks or even to give him away to a better dog owner. But that's not an option because i know for a fact that i love my dog and he loves me even more.
Please try thinking about my situation and giving me answers that will help me.

Well honestly it depends on why he's whining. Some owners know why their dogs whine. Mine would whine when he was bored or wanted attention. Try getting your dog a toy that requires him to think like a kong or a buster cube. If it's not that then it's attention whining. If its that then you just have to ignore him completely to make it stop don't even look at him. Then reward him when hes quiet. It really seems like he needs exercise of some sort. My husky would whine if he didn't get exercise. Maybe you could hire a dog walker. I hope this helps.

The dog NEEDS exercise and attention. If you are very busy you should look into a dog walker or dog daycare a few times a week.

A tired, well exercised dog will be much happier and hopefully less whiney!
