Our dog is a cockerspanial he's just a bit over one year old, but he cannot be left out of a cage when no one is home because he goes nuts. But mainly he whines and always tries to tip over his cage. But he whines constantly and he gets normal attention but nothing works we talk to him and ignore him at times for whining but it doesn't work!!!! Please help it's becoming a problem ...
The dog has toys all the time chewy bunnies and so fourth and when we do let him in he gets treats and we have tried letting him out of the cage he usually destroys the blind on our backdoor we've went through 3 blinds.
But it seems as many of you say to tell him no and talk to him seems not to work and no we do check him out to see if he's hurt but nothing.
He Has an open like cage and it doesn't change anything and last summer we tried to put him on a chain out side he usually breaks the collar he has and breaks the chain.

Dogs whine for many reasons (pain, bordeom, wanting to pee, etc.). My guess in your case is that he is restless and bored. I would suggest taking him for long walks (half-hour or more if possible) and giving him something to eat that takes him a long time to finish (Purina Chew Eez rawhide rolls work great!). Hope this helps.

take him to a doctor or a trainer. they can usually fix things. but if that doesnt work, then try taking him out of a cage and putting him in something else.

You should give it more attention. Give it more toys. Maybe get another dog so they can get all of their energy out of it.

Have you checked him out to make sure that he hasn't hurt himself some how on the cage. It sounds like he is very upset about this cage. Have him checked out by a vet that he hasn't broken anything inside him and then make some arrangements for an obedience school for him.

then just take the dog out of the cage, get like a pen where the dog doesnt feel incolsed, maybe your dog is closterphobic( i think thats how u spell it?) but anyways, yea just get an opened top pen or put the dog in the backyard, or just let it roam around in the house?!

Cockerspaniels love to be close to people. They are the kind of dog that follows you around the house from room to room. It sounds like he's lonely in his cage all by himself. I have a little Pekineses that whines the minute he gets bored. He is very hyper. I've been spraying him on the nose every time he begins to whine with a plastic water-gun filled with plain water and I'm getting results. He whines much quieter now and less frequently.
