How to set up Media Control to use other Players?

I am using a Dell Studio XPS 16 with Windows Vista 64bit. Near the top, like most lab tops, there is a row of buttons. WiFi, Sound, Eject, and Media controls like Previous, Stop, Play/Pause, and Next. I am able to use the controls to control my Windows Media Player, but not any other media player, such as WinAmp, iTunes, etc. I was wondering if there was a way I could set up my controls to allow me to change and play/pause songs, videos, etc. The buttons work fine, just want to be able to use them to control other players.
