how to set the timing on a 86-87 suzuki 230 quadsport ,ive got the magneto lined up

with mark on motor case? ive got the magneto lined up with mark on motor case and piston is tdc but i forgot about where to set the cam at ,there are 2 lines on the cam sprocket i think they line up with the top of motor and there is a square in between the lines which way does the square point ?up,down where.somebody plz remind me of this prob.
 
First thing you do is to go out and get a service manual for this bike. One for this ATV only costs $21.42 + shipping. It will pay for it self the first time you use it.

This service manual will have detailed step by step instructions on how to set the ignition timing on this engine so you get it right the first time.

You will no longer need to depend on strangers on the Internet for your repair procedures. You will no longer need to decide if this information from these strangers is accurate, or just a bunch of B.S.
 
at TDC the cam lubes must be pointing away from the tappet/valve ...ive had a look and sadly i havent got a manual for that one...
