How to seek a PM doc after a move?

I have learned alot in the short time visiting this site. I go to my PCP for PM. I never signed a contract nor do i recieve any UA. I have been with him for about 5 years. Take fentanyl patch and percocet for BT pain. My question is, however, that i may be moving in the next 6 mos. (due to husbands job) and after reading alot on these forums, i am scared that i may have to go through alot to even find a PM doc. I don't care about the signing of contracts, etc. Just being able to find a doc that is compassionate is really frightening me.:(
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

thats a good idea. or just see what PMs your ins co actually covers in your network and kind of go from there? thats what i ended up kind of doing for mine. most docs offices just do have a particular PM that they prefer to send their patients to when a patients pain issues just become much more involved than any doc can or should realistically be managing in the standard family practice setting? its just like with being referred out to any other type of specialist really. and if they give you different options, just go the one that your doc most recommends and if you do not see things on the same page witht he first, you can always try the second option,ya know what i mean?

just be prepared for what the setting will be like since it is not really like any other type of specialist you are being sent to. its just the true nature of whats involved that kind of dictates the need for the contracts and UAs. i don't mind doing all that just knowing that i am being better treated for my many insane pain generators i have. you will also generally ahve an anesthesiologist availiable to actually try differnt types of therepies and injections too. i get regular sympathetic nervous system blocks there at mine for my RSD pain/syndrome that just does NOT respond really at all to any level of real narcotics so i need the more out of the box types of treatment options just available at only my PM.

just check with your doc and your ins co to see what is even availiable to you. good luck and i hope you can find the best of the best on the first try. i know i was lucky and did. please let us know how things are goin hon. FB
