My mother is the apartment manager of my building and we are trying to figure HOW to secure the apartment's abilities to be jump-able,climb-able, and more.
Just today my friends and I (Feb.21 12:00) left our bikes in the laundry room (unlocked for tenants). We thought no one shall harm or steal our bikes because the laundry room is in the premises of the apartment. Then at 10AM, we all woke up shocked when we didn't find our bikes in there. Later we found our bikes and called the police, and now a guy is arrested.
-The gates that are LOCKED that surround the inside-perimeter of the building are two; front and back gates.
- The back is always locked, but the fence is too low that its easy to jump into (people jump to the dumpster to the wall, over the fence);
-then there is the front, where you can stand above the next apartment's rail and then climb and jump over into the inside.
-They can climb the next apartment's gate THEN into my apartment as well, which is more stealthy
I am planning to go to Home Depot and buy a new door lock for the laundry room, but what are some options to block the trespassers from climbing my fence(s) and getting into the premises?
I want to keep my apartment from being trespassed into, or broken into because the stealing of my bikes have caused a problem with the trespassers (History: Trespasses about 3, and broken into 0)
I want to leave barbwire out of the situation because my mother does not want the look to be "dangerous".
