So my family and I are not native to this country (America), but we've lived here for a good few years. My little sister has practically been raised here. She is, I believe, thirteen. Anyway, she's starting to blast 50 cent, chris brown, and the rest of that garbage, you know? Not only is she blasting it, she's singing along with it, repeating all the ridiculously derogatory things in it. I mean, I like to listen to it too sometimes, but only because I like the beats. I can't believe she's walking around singing "boom boom boom gotta get that."
And she's thinking all day about boys. Every time I see here next to the tv and I come over she points to some Zack Effron and starts telling me about how hot he is. She made herself a facebook and posts pictures and videos of herself with huge sunglasses and making the peace sign with her hands.
Typical teenager, really. But it's ridiculous...whatever happened to doing good in school, so you can go to college and get a good job? Whatever happened to finding a nice guy and having a good life instead of dancing around and grinding every guy you meet? I don't want my sister to "go around," but with the way she's acting, it seems more than likely.
How will she understand that 50 cent doesn't care about whether you succeed in life or not? He already sucked all of these teenagers into buying his cd's, and so he's successful now and living in a mansion. Isn't it a bit hypocritical for him to set the stage for our youngsters to be broke drug dealers and whores?
This pop culture is really something to run away from. Oh, and of course, my parents, like most other parents around here, are doing a lazy job of raising her - hence, these problems.
