More specifically I'd like to know of a site where I can find the diagnostic codes for the check engine light. We have a machine that can tell us a code but I need a guide as to what the code corresponds to. Other than that I thought I can just reset the check engine light somehow. I've disconnected the battery but to no avail. Also, as a side note, I replaced the radiator a few months back. The light just popped on one day so I figured it had something to do with the radiator. I drained it and put fresh water in and this worked for about a week and then the light popped back on. Keep in mind the radiator water was dirty....probably from 1989;) Either way, I bought some cleaner, drained it about 5 or more times, and then cleaned the system thoroughly. It holds water perfect and stays clean now so I can't see the light having anything to do with this. Other than that minor issue, the car is perfect. Burns just the slightest bit of oil, maybe less than a half quart a month. Car runs perfect. Holds all fluids. And has just over 120,000 miles. But the persistent light stays on. I've had the car for close to 8 months now and the light only came on after the initial radiator issues which has been about 3 months ago so I am lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Dr. Car Guy: Well well, I'd have never thought of that......seems as though said proffesionals don't check codes for cars older than 1999. At least this is the case for Auto Zone, Advanced, etc.....plus, seeng as how the car is running in tip top shape, aside from the light itself, anyone equipped with this "common sense" would see that to go and cash out hundreds of bucks for no apparent reason would be irrational. Thanks anyway though! And seeing as how you supposedly know so much Doc, you didn't really help much now did ya? No harm no foul.
Any other suggestions are appreciated! Thanks everyone.

I would start by using a little bit of common sense. Have the code read and properly diagnosed by a professional and have the problem fixed.

hold both out side buttons on the digital tripometer its in the owners manual
