how to reset a check engine light of mazda protege 99"?

i just replacced the air flow host on my car because that was causing the problem and my engine check light to turn on, i fixed it already and i want to know how to turn it off without using a code reader(which is expensive) and going to the mechanic..my car is a mazda protege 99'. thanks
 
If the problem is fixed, it will turn its self off.
But it you can't wait, write down any security codes for the radio and such. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it.
That should clear the error codes.
Reprogram you coded devices.
