how to replace a stereo in a 2000 chevy cavalier?

my sister just got a new stereo dock and were trying to replace the old one but cant get it out. do we need to take off the dash or what?
 
sometimes yes not hard to remove buttons anbd then the nuts holding it in place unhook the wires but if it cant slide thru the bottom then yes you have to remove what ever is in the way sometimes meaning you take parts off dash
 
yeah, that whole dash face is one piece. It's held in by push pins. Tug on the dash around the steering wheel and work out to the sides from there. The radio is held in by 4 screws, two at the bottom and one on either side. Pull it out and you have to remove three color coded wire harness's. Some year radios can't be used because of harness differences between years and options.
