How to remove stuck nozzle from the end of garden hose?

After a season, if even that, I can't remove the nozzle from the end of our garden hose. It looks like a brass hose end and steel - or nickel plated brass nozzle? Is there a way to remove it without destroying the end of the hose? If not, how do you avoid this problem in the future? Do you use a different nozzle? Plastic?

If I leave the water on, the hose will leak slowly all day and waste water. So this means I have to go to the shutoff on the side of the house every time I want to turn on and off the water...(a pain).

Thanks for any advice!!
P.S. We tried spraying WD40 all over it (and inside) and it won't budge with a wrench.
 
If you can't break it off with two pairs of pliers, get a new hose. I can't imagine a nozzle getting stuck that badly. Do you have any friends with muscles?

You need two pairs of pliers. Grip the nozzle with one and the hose with the other. Then use lots of mucle and it will come loose.
