how to remove rear brake brum on 92 mazda 626?

i can't find the sprocket to lossen the pads from the drum. there is usually a slot on the back side that has a sprocket but i can't find it
 
most cars don,t have them take your emergency break off it mite make it easier
 
What you are talking about is an adjuster, it is not needed, it is used to adjust the rear brakes. Unless your parking brake is engaged, the shoes SHOULD not be against the drums. However, if its been a while and the drums are worn, it will create a lip on the back edge that the shoes will then have to be pushed past to get the drum off. Get a hammer and work on your patience. They will come.
