I find it increasingly difficult to find ways to teach my children to be good Christians. The older they get, the harder it is to keep away the influence of media telling them to wear clothes that show a lot of skin, that material possessions are everything and that doing drugs/drinking is cool.
I don't believe its right to homeschool them because that would be taking them away from interaction with other people and the real world. I'm looking for suggestions on music, tv shows, movies or anything else that's good and wholesome. And any advice from other parents on how you teach your children to be good and proper. Thanks

ok i think you should give them some slack and watch what they wear and if you think they go to far stop them and teach about drugs and what they really do.

It can be easy to raise good christian children in this world. They do need to be exposed to the real world, but you should take the time to talk with them about what they experience. See if they know what is right and wrong and if they know how to handle a bad situation.

As far as wholesome media, Veggie Tales is a GREAT christian video series (depending on your kids ages). There is also a lot of great christian music in all genres which they might like, and it send a positive message.

Just make sure you reinforce your rules and reward them for making good choices. That has always worked for my family.

We have this magic device in our house that you might find useful.

It's call the "off" button.

All the best.

well dont let them watch ABC family, lol

My kids are 4 and 5, they dont watch dora, hannah montana, any of that. I dont let them watch music videos either.

we listen to christian music primarily, my daughter loves chris tomlin, lol

Just keep talking to them about what is right to your family.

when my kids get old enough for those things to make an impact, im going to take them to the hospital so they can see someone banged up from drinking , let them see someone dying of cancer so they can understand, smoking isnt cool.

It might be extreme but whatever it takes

People, kids and adults alike, get influenced every day of their lives...they can't be protected forever. All you can do is share your morals and values and beliefs of what's right and wrong and then trust them to continue on with that. If you're sending them to public school, you're going to have to deal with outside influences, that's just how it is. It's up to communication, trust and honesty now. Stay involved in their lives without being too over-bearing, it's not impossible.
