How to protect apple trees in a really cold climate?

I bought two apple trees in the summer, a cortland and a norland.
They are not much taller than 7 feet.

I live beside Alaska which gets to -45 degrees c (-49 degrees f) in winter.

I asked around. Some people said:
-Put animal manure around trunk
-Put hay around trunk
-wrap trunk with an old sleeping bag
-wrap trunk with burlap
-wrap trunk with wet newspaper
-build little fence around apple tree, then fill with leaves
-cover apple tree with plastic

Different people said these things. I am not sure who is correct or what to do.
