How to properly paint kitchen cabinets?

I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets white, but I don't want it to look messy, like some I've seen before.

How do you get it to look like it was bought that way? I've seen commercials for spray paints specifically for wood dressers etc. Is that the best way to go about it?
 
First, you have to sand the cabinets to remove the current finish. It takes a long time and it is not easy, but if you skip this step it will come out looking sloppy. Next, paint the sanded cupboards with a primer. Finally, give at least 2 coats of paint, 3 or 4 is much better. I think the easiest way is to use a roller brush, but you could try spray paint if you think that would be easier for you.
