How to prevent input lag on Panasonic Viera?

I have a Panasonic Viera 42 inch plasma. TC-P42S2. I have a little bit of lag when I'm playing games on my PS3 and can't seem to figure out how to solve the problem. It's definitely not the internet connection because it works fine on old crt tvs.

I have switched to game mode on my Panasonic and that doesn't help much. I've set the settings on the PS3 to output in only 420 or 720 rather than 1080 and that doesn't seem to help much either.

Does anyone have any ideas?
