i want as many awards as possible upon reaching graduation and i would also like to go through basic training "comfortably."

lucky me, i am actually already used to lack of sleep, sleeping at irregular hours and waking up early. i am also pretty calm under stress but my fitness level isn't up to par and i want to know how much running i should do per week, for how long, intensity etc...

how much running do you do in navy basic training anyways? the only answer i always see is "a lot". running 3 miles is a lot for some ppl and nothing for others. i am not joining until next year so i figured i would get an early start.

dude basic in the navy isnt crap. all u do is fold clothes and iron them and learn the history of the navy. You also do a little firefighting. You also dont shoot any combat guns...just a 9mm and a shotty, thats it dude. I went throught bootcamp and then a school and went over to the army. The army is so much better. you learn hand to hand, get to fire all kinds of weapons, and its just all around better to me. if you are thinking combat military then get out of the DEP while you can and go marines or army. If not well the navy bootcamp isnt hard by any means.

From what i hear, Navy basic is like summer camp, except in summer camp you have a chance to break a sweat.

u will need to learn to get to sleep at a early hour and be able to sleep light, at first they may wake u up a lot at night but if your lucky you ll get 6-7 hours of sleep and its gonna be tough if you have trouble falling asleep at normal hours. you ll be in bed early, like 9pm. Its good you can handle stress, cuz ull be stressed thats for sure. also you RUN a lot lol. they have standards but its up to your instructor on how much he wants u to run. i doubt ull be running more then 3-4 miles. but work on ur push up and sit ups too. make yourself heard, dont be quiet if u want to get awards, ull get more attention but he will give u leadership roles. FYI LEADERSHIP roles or awards will not get you anything in your real career they just make you feel good about yourself. you may get extra ribbons such as for shooting though. you have an entire year so instead of worrying about the NAVY i really suggest enjoying ur friends and family and having fun, cuz in a year ull be gone working ur life away.
