How to pour cement over garden?

In my backyard there is a small area for a garden. We really don't use it and it just fills with weeds and attracts bugs. We decided to just to cover this. I have weeded out the entire area and looking for ideas or so to cover it. I was thinking cement would be the cheap and easy solution, but I don't know the first thing about pouring it and what to look out for.

A cement slab is not cheap. Maybe grass, mulch or crushed shell. If you do cement have a professional do it.
