how to play mp3s with id3 tag in car?

i have a Sony 8gb mp3 player. I was planning to use a auxillary lead from the mp3 player to the cd player in my car but im told that wont display the id3 tag.

so is the only way i can display an id3 tag via an mp3 cd i burn on my PC?
