How to physical build myself up for the Marines?

I need to get in good shape for Marine boot camp in about 5 months. What are some good techniques for being able to run 4 miles at once?( lets just say i am out of shape and can run about 1 mile at a time) Also I had knee surgery what can be done to strengthen that knee and get it a good range of motion? Are stretches really that important I never stretch or anything.
