How to pack to be a "groom" at a horse show?

ok i've never been a groom at a horse show, but this is what i would assume you need:

- clean curry comb (all 3 types just in case - rubber, plastic, metal)
- clean hard brush
- clean soft or finishing brush
- clean hoof pick
- sissors (just in case)
- clippers (just in case)
- mane and tail comb and brush, clean
- mane and tail bands for braiding
- hoof polish or oil
- 3 or 4 clean sponges (for face and dock)
- 2 or more clean rags
- a couple of buckets
- sweat scraper
- rubber hand mit (just in case)
- mane and tail detangler spray or gel
- show sheen
- fly spray

- clean breeches, johds, or nice jeans (though you won't be riding, you'll want to look nice)
- clean boots
- extra pair of muck boots
- nice, plain t-shirt (2 for each day you'll be there; you never know when something will get you dirty or wet!)
- helmet
- gloves
- any other stuff you need for a show (if it's overnight)

i think that's about it. good luck! that sounds like a lot of fun!

What you need depends on the breed of horse showing, the discipline and the show level. Basically, a stiff brush to remove dried dirt or mud, a soft brush to polish the coat, a rag for boots and tack, a rag for the horse, rubber bands or yarn to fix braids/ banded manes or tuck in tack keepers, hoof oil/polish, coat polish, spare safety pins, a bucket of water for the horse and a drink for the rider. A pad of paper for copying patterns and a copy of the showbill are good ideas too. Good luck

General grooming things;
2 x brushes (doesn't REALLY matter what one but hard bristles are better, maybe one hard and one soft)
1 x hoof pick (just because they're cool :D)
baby wipes (great for cleaning off dirt from both horse and rider; from boots to noses)
show sheen (make that pony shinyyy!)
gasoline (to make the nose look nice)
mane comb (if it's not plaited)
tissues (b'coz they're cool!)

and just general grooming things.. but i think they're the main essentials.
x
