How to make my Blackberry Torch battery last?

I have tried almost everything, so i entered into the configuration and i'm at the processes... i see that there's this net__rim_bb_impl process that's almost all the time making the processor overwork... now when that process shuts off the phone works normally and the battery lasts a lot.. but like 3 times a day this process starts acting up and the phone gets real hot and drains away the battery

So what is this process really doing, can I do something to make it better... what happens if i "kill" this process?

Or what would be your best suggestiong
