How to make Android app?

I want to make a children's story book app, more like interactive one. Those pop up book apps are amazing. I'm not a programmer, but I want to learn. Is learning to make Android app through Eclipse doable in 6 months?

I can always use App Inventor but I heard that MIT is taking it over soon and I don't know if that mean it will be closed for public or it will be available still.

Any advice?
