how to make a jeep go faster?

I have a 1994 Jeep cherokee sport and especially when going up hill, it goes slowly-SLOWLY and it seems like I'm pushing the car too much if I go above 40. I have to use the slow lane on the beltway too. are these model cars not supposed to go so fast?
It used to shake heavily and conck [sp?] out and we took it to the dealer and it stopped shaking but now it take soo much effort to get it up a hill.
 
Did they make an I-4 in 94? It sounds like you are having problems with the engine. The six cylinder boogies, its a pretty fast car. Although long winding hills can take a toll, I would say these trucks are one of the fastest stock trucks out there.
