How to load Vodafone mobile broadband dongle?

I have a laptop with windows xp, laptop around 5 years old, dongle wont load, when I go into my computer and click on it it just crashes, any ideas what the problem is?

Most likely to be a software conflict rather than a hardware problem. Could be a thousand things.

I would take it back to the retailer as they have a duty to provide a product that's fit for purpose ie they will help you to fix it.
