HOW TO: LG VX8300 on Cricket with All Data Features Working including Brew!!!

yeah...that's a big no no...

i remeraber my early days of hex editing nv backups from treos and not saving every few minutes...i would hex edit for like an hour and then hit backspace...i'd be so pissed...time to close and not save...arrgghh!

yes...

there is a thread located here just like this one, only it is for the vx9900...

read that thread and follow the instructions...if you run into any trouble, then you should post any and all questions in that thread and they will be answered...

i will leave it to you to search the cricket forums for what you need and then after you find it i, or berry, or stevekice, or amoamare, or any of thousanRAB of others will help you from there...

enjoy and remeraber, search and read before all else...

yea the same thing is happening to my phone. i realized that the camera stopped working. then one day it started working again and i was able to take photos. then it would stop working again...and come back on later. its weird and keeps going in and out. i have also found that after i record videos, i can't play them at all. it almost seems like the applications on the phone know we are on a non-verizon network, so they can't decide if they wanna stay working or not. its crazy. on top of that, some mms messages "fail to play" when received.

Hi I flash vx8300 dozen times with a different computer now that computer has crash I am trying to flash on vista laptop. I plug in the phone and it install the driver but when I hook up the data cable to phone to the computer its giving me this " ! " saying code 10 ( I did change the port to com2 and also the modem to com2) please any help will be great thanks!!!

yes...you can reflash to verizon and recover the media player...make sure you read up on flashing lg firms a little first so you don't end up with a "no signal" brick...

As much as that isn't good news, it's sort of a relief. I had firmware version 3 and flashed to 1 and it didn't help, and actually now my text isn't working. Gonna try v2. If that doesn't work then back to v3 and load factory nv settings and change only the internet settings (leave mms alone) and see if that works. Will post results soon

Hi all - trying to fix MMS on a VX-8300 - love the phone, tethering works both usb and bluetooth, have lgdownload prog. but it doesn't work on my vista laptop, wondered if anyone knows a way to edit MMS settings without it? Also, phone shuts itself off at random times?

Well i figured it out, at least it seems that way. After all the reflashing to different firmwares and whatnot, I found out all I had to do was in the phone menus. Go to Settings>Phone Settings>Securtity (enter your security code, can read with QPST if you forgot it)>Reset Default

That did it for mine!!! Be sure to move anyhting you want to keep to your memory card, for I'm not sure if it will dissapear. Also you could backup everything with bitpim (too much work for me, lol). My camera works fine, I never had issues with my Video recorder in the first place.

Also I can still send pix text and get on the internet!!!!

hey can you tell me please how to do the vx 8700 it partially flashed. i really need help can i manually do this.

read the phone with lg download nvedit tool, exit nvedit, then exit lg download...

now open qpst efs explorer...copy $SYS.ESN and $SYS.MEID to your pc...

hex edit the SYS.MEID file with the MEID in reverse pair order...then, hex edit the SYS.ESN file with the esn and the esn-checksum in reverse pair order...then, write the 2 files back to the phone...((((it is easy to use a good file from a phone with a good esn/meid as a template))))

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT I MEAN BY REVERSE PAIR ORDER, THEN YOU NEED TO DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU START...

*hint* you'll need a checksum calculator (unicdma works)...and info can be found on M-F

DISCLAIMER: This method is only intended to repair your zeroed out meid and esn. DO NOT use this method in any other manner.

I haven't gotten to try one of those yet, if you can edit stuff in the service programming menu, you might be able to do it manually, but chances are, you'll need to hook it up to the computer. Get the VX8700 dll from www.humpa.com/vzw and see if you can edit everything with LGDownload that's necessary.

I just flashed a 8300 using the 9900 dll. I got everything working but incoming mms. Whenever I receive a picture message, it tells me to download the message at cricket.com. Ive done many different LG's and have never ran into this problem. Ive double, triple and quadruple checked my settings and everything is as it should be. Any suggestions as to why Im getting this message and how to fix it? Thanks.

Thanks Randomwit. I definitely will be doing some reading up, as i always do. I don't want to end up with a paperweight that used to double as a phone, but if i leave it as is, will it cause any problems, or do i need to take care of that?? As for the disclaimer...I value my freedom

Uh,
Make sure they have a new plan.
SounRAB like that have an old plan that did not have picture messaging. This was the way they used to do it. It would send a text message.
