How to let your boyfriend knows you're not ready for sex?

I've been going out with this guy for almost 4 months now, and we've made out before. Most of my friends at this age have sex with their boyfriends and girlfriends but I don't want to go there with my boyfriend just yet, not because I don't love him, because I do, but something happen in my past that I'm not ready to get over it yet, and it revovle with sexual relationship as well, and my current boyfriend knows about it, and he agrees that we'll take it slow. If a guy really love a girl, will he wait for her no matter what? until she's fully ready to go there with you? If a guy really love a girl, will they get tired of her after they have sexual relationship? That's what everybody talks about, that once a guy have sex with you, they'll leave you for another person regarding how much they love you, because literally, they've known and seen everything about you, and they want to have something new. I know my boyfriend is not the type that will force me to have sex with him, but if he ever ask me to, or we both end up wanting to do it but we're not ready for it yet, what should I do? How should I act to let him know that I really do love him but I'm not ready for it just yet? How long should I make him wait furthermore? Should I wait until one day he ask me to marry him?
