My mum and grandparents are heavily against me joining the Australian army because they have a belief that women dont belong in the army and its a job for men. I'll get harassed, raped etc. etc.
I plan on telling them that
- women are not allowed in front line combat (so they dont need to stress their little girl is going to be killed)
-ill be entering the medical field (as a medical attendant) this is always a winner with asian parents who love nothing more than their kids to be doctors
what else can i tell them? PARTICULARLY about women not belonging in the military
they are very traditional asian parents believing in gender roles and very few things can sway them
my last option is to ignore them all and do it anyway but I would so much rather them supporting me than being against what i do.
they didnt even bother going to my brother march out parade when he finished recruitment course (they let him join because he is a guy)
