I was just wondering if there was any way to tell whether a car that you're buying privately is legitimate. It's just that I'm hoping to buy a car next week from somebody that I know, the deal is great, low mileage, good condition, full service history, drives well and for just a little below average price. But because we know each other as mates, I didn't really think anything of it.
Now I'm beginning to wonder whether it's too be good to be true as the person I'm buying it from leaves the country for good, in a weeks time.
What if they had purchased the car on finance and not paid it back and if they're untraceable, the car would be taken off me or I would have to pay even extra and wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
How can I avoid this situation? Are there any others I should look out for?
Thanks x
