How to kick start a dirt bike?

I just bought a new 2008 Yamaha YZ 250F and I am having some trouble kick starting it. Sometimes I start it up on the first kick, but sometimes I can't get it started for like 15 minutes. I follow the instructions for cold and hot start. Please help, the bike is great, when it's running.
 
If you are having trouble try hot starting it...push starting...use to race and sometimes this was the only way...to get fire...good luck...sounds like fun!!
