How to install rear signals

I have just bought some new turn signals for the rear, but I have never installed any before....Do you just cut the old wires and connect the new ones? Any help would be appreciated!

One, the rear wires are extremely tight. No extra length. What I did was take the seat off and you will see the cable dive into the rear fender. I tapped in there and ran parallel wires. To do that, I had to pull the wheel off. Second, I would use LEDs and if you can put up with the fast flashing, which I like, you won't be adding to the Wattage total on your bike, which is important. I am not sure if the part some vendors sell with it to slow the fast flashing uses Watts or not. If you use too many watts, you can melt a plastic part inside the ignition (learned the hard way). They do make a tap that you can put around the wire, and then another on the end of the turnsignal wire, then plug one into the other. They are smaller. I tried them on the back first, but they only lasted about 6 months. So when I did the second bike, I ran the longer wire from under the seat.

For $5 you can buy a pair of turn signal wire adapters. Each are about 5" long and have the connectors on each end to connect between the new turn signals and the factory connector. I've seen them at every motorcycle store I've been to in the past few months that sold any turn signals. Keep the quality- spend the $5. No cutting, no electrical tape, no rigging.
