How to install neon rings to my subwoofers?

I had bought 2 10" neon rings for my subwoofer and was looking at everything inside then i found the on off beat switch, on one end of it, it had a cigarette lighter adapter so i plugged that in.... then on the other end there was a plug and i looked on the rings for a plug in and i looked on my amp and my deck.... nothing!! can u help me?
 
Can you give us a model number and brand of the rings? It sounds like you got a cheap-o DIY set, so there's no telling what they gave you to work with.
