Hello everyone i'm new to forums i want to flash my htc eric to cricket but i'm stuck on this part i can't get the "read from phone" to work does anyone know why?? When i do this steps I hit Start Clients and then Service Porgraming 10. Go back to the QPST Configuration and click on "Start Clients" and click on "Service Programming".
11. It will come up with a window displaying active phones. You should see one, the Surf....(whatever). Select it and click OK.
it takes me to this box that say's Phone Selection

On the top of this program it say's Qpst Service Program FFa/Surf 6290 offline why does it say that??If anyone can help that will be nice thank's...
12. Click "read from phone". It will ask you for an MSL/SPC Code. Paste the 6 digit code you copied earlier and click Ok. In the settings tab you will see a box for the MSL/SPC code. Replace whatever is written in it with six zeros (000000). Click "write to phone". Ignore any errors that occur

Do you have all the needed drivers installed and the the phone in DIAG mode?
Did windows detect the new hardware installed?
Did you add the ports in the QPST config screen?

I hacked my old htc touch diamond myself without an issue, but this Droid Eris has me wanting to commit suicide. I had it flashed / metroweb enabled / and picture mssg enabled at some hole in the wall of a place.

I am trying to get my apps online without Wifi but I am oblivious to a couple of things. I have no clue if my phone was rooted. I am assuming not since i received a 2.1 update OTA, which I installed (I hope this wasn't a bad thing!) Even after the update all my settings worked fine. I just need my apps to work!

This is my first Android phone and I need this broken down to its simplest form please!

Couple of things I see here.
1st your posting about the Eris in the Hero thread.
2nd You mentioned Metroweb, this is the cricket forum.
3rd you most likely un-rooted or messed up the flash by doing the OTA update.
I would begin my search for the correct setting and a Metro solution in the Metro forum. "If your on Metro!"
or
try reading through the threads on the Droid Eris.

i have everything that brandon has posted, i'm running into a problem and that is when i open QPST and add new ports all i get is two serial ports and the usb/qc port. There is no surf port to choose even when unchecking the little bold box. Could someone plz help me with this i'm using a windows xp based computer. Would vista work better for this or no? thanks in advance

Did you make sure you did steps 1 and 2 from Brandons post? i had that once when i forgot to put the phone into "DM Command Service" mode.

Hope it helps some.

Hello,

I've followed your directions to a T but I'm getting stuck at the part where I need CDMA workshop to connect to my hero.

I've loaded the surf port into QPST and it's enabled on COM4.

I leave QPST running and open CDMA Workshop, select COM4 under port and click Connect.
At the bottom of CDMA workshop it states: "Failed.. Unable to open COM4"

Yes I am connected via ##3424#, Yes I have USB Debugging enabled (don't think QPST would even pickup the phone if I didn't), Yes I installed the appropriate HTC Diag drivers and winxp recognizes the device and shows up in device manager fine.

What would cause CDMA to fail to connect to the port?

Thanks for the help.
