How to help him be more intimate?

Well my boyfriend of 5 and a half months is very reserved. He really sucks at intimacy completely. He won't hold my hand unless i grab his(he likes to hold hands), he doesn't like to kiss in public only on occasions here and there. He's got the opening up to me problem...he opens up on occasion. But when i open up about my feelings or shitty stuff happening to me thats a perfect opportunity to say yeah me too or whatever. I just want to know how to help him open up and become comfortable enough that i can ease him to learn intimacy(I'm his first real girl friend so i have a lot to teach him)
