How to groom my samoyed?

If you want his coat to be the best it can be put him on a decent quality dog food. Read the ingredients on the dog food bag and eliminate corn, wheat, and soy as they are common allergens and irritants to dogs. Mild allergic reaction can increase shedding, resulting in hair everywhere and a less full coat. A good quality dog food will not contain corn, wheat, or soy, and will have a meat meal listed as the first ingredient. Ingredients are, of course, listed in order of quantity and you want meat to be the first ingredient. Meal means bone is ground in as well, which is what you want. If it's just meat, that meat was added before it was cooked and dried out, and was mostly water.

As for grooming him, get a dog brush. Just about any kind will do. Gently brush his coat at least once a week, though daily is idea for nordic breeds. This should help keep his hair smooth and facilitate distribution of oils to add a little more shine.

A healthy diet and regular brushing should keep his coat looking good. Since he's a puppy still his coat will not be fully grown in yet. Give it time.

My puppy is 3 months old. He still has those red marks around his eyes. Will they ever go away? Also what can i do to make his hair thicker longer and healthier? And do all the samoyeds have little black around their mouth?

The tear stains require frequent care to go away. Use a warm, wet cloth 2 times a day to wash the area, and then dry it with a paper towel. The natural bacteria from the eye secretions are what causes the reddish tint.

Feed a high quality diet to get the best coat the genes allow. Proper genetics is the base of a good coat. That's why BYB and pet shop pups never look like show dogs. The genetics aren't there. The breed standard requires the lips, eye rims and nose of the good example of the breed to be black. If they aren't, it is a fault. This means just the skin, not the hair.

As far as grooming, get a slicker brush, a pin brush, and a greyhound comb, and learn line brushing. There are a few good sites you can google, or e-mail me and I will send you instructions on line brushing.
