I would not try to detox from opiates on your own. I would definitely talk to your doctor first. There is a type of protocol that you have to follow before doing it or you will just make it a lot worse on yourself. I was detoxed off of opiates in a withdrawl clinic and what they use to get you off of the opiates is a fairly new medication called "suboxone". Before your doctor trys to put you on that, please read up any information you can on these boarRAB so you are well aware of what they might be trying to give you. It did help me get the opiates out of my system but this new med. fools your brain into still thinking that you are taking opiates (it is synthetic) and it works almost the same. They don't know a lot about it yet and there are special doctors that can only give it out, they have to take a special course also it is "government regulated" as my "addictionolgist" told me.
It makes you calm and still takes away some of your pain (or masks it) but it still has some kind of fake opiates in it. I know that is a silly way of explaining it but I want you to read up on it first in case it is offered to you!!!!! Another thing the doc might say is to taper down on your opiates and then when you stop taking them you will go into withdrawl (depending on how slowly you do it) you might not have as bad of a withdrawl as some, but...if you go on the suboxone keep in mind that you will still have to withdraw off of that also in the future unless the doc keeps you on a maintenance program. I hope I have helped you and not scared you. I want you to be prepared. There are so many people on these boarRAB that will send you messages to help you. You have come to the right place.
Take care of yourself and let me know how you are doing.
