How to get vegetable garden to "grow upwards"?

I have a limited space for a garden. I am doing it along the side of my house in an area that gets great sun. It is about 3 feet wide X 20 feet long. I want to plant some peppers, tomatoes, peas, Gbeans, broccoli, zucchini and cucumbers. Is this space too small for this? I've heard that you can make plants that vine grow upwards. How do I do that and would I put those plants closer to the house? I am new at all this!

Beans, peas, and cucumbers will climb if you let them, so put a trellis in your garden bed. (Tomatoes can also substitute a trellis for a tomato cage, which is a bonus.) You can usually buy one, or you can make one out of dog wire, if you prefer. I won't go into detail about that at the moment.
It's too late to plant broccoli, but I wish you luck with all the rest of the plants. Remember to tie up your tomatoes so they don't droop over.
