how to get the tv to come on in a 95 chevy G20 van?

ok i see 2 wires hanging from inside the lil door the reg power cord and a red and black cord i dont know where or if that goes to the tv. i plugged up the tv from the power cord to a cord i ran from my house and it came on how do i get it to come on wired from the van like its s'posed to
