What is wrong with your SI joints??? What are the symptoms you are having?? How did you injure your SI joints or is it one joint? Have you had SI joint injections - what was the results of the injection??
What treatment have you had so far??
There is a lot involved in SI joints...and they are not a fun thing to have wrong with you. You are misdiagnosed most of the time, eventually treated like a head case...BUT if you are really really lucky...you get to see a specialist for the SI joints...not just a regular old neuro. or ortho. surgeon...you need a SI joint specialist....yup. Believe me, they are far and few between...specially trained people...
My SI joint specialist says that most people suffer with SI joint problems for many many years...30 - 25 - 20 never diagnosed early...I believe he thought I was lucky only to have a disrupted SI joint...for only 6 yrs..... Can you imagine. All of the tests/injections/MRI's/CT scans/various Drs....and huge amounts of money spent...before my SI joint referral from a neurosurgeon who knew what was wrong but doesn't fix SI joints.
I really am not trying to be difficult here, I really am trying to help you...those questions are important...they will help decide what kind of treatment you need. For your sake, I hope that some form of PT or chiro. will help you...that would be wonderful....but there are other more difficult forms of fixing the SI joints....surgery is one...yikes! Different types of surgeries...just placing a few screws in to stabilize the joint sounRAB easy....but from what I was told, it does not give as good an end result as the more drastric fusion of the joint...where they take the joint out/put in roRAB/cage/screws...then you stay in bed/walker/wheelchair for up to 3 months...and if you don't fuse at that time period...you may be offered repeat surgery or another 3 months of sitting/laying down....no going out of the house or anywhere... This is a scary surgery...believe me, I had it last June...and yup, you guessed it, I didn't fuse...so as of 1/17 I have been sitting/walker/and in bed AGAIN for another 3 months.... You see, I had to cut short my recovery...my Mom became very, very ill, and I had to take care of her....and make sure she had the best treatment. My Mom is fine!! She is coming to my house almost daily now...helping with the shopping...but you see...you have to do as you are told...or face the end result. I can see a huge difference already...today is my best day so far, since June!! (no meRAB. today!!!!!!). I do believe that my back will heal...but it will never be the same, there will be no heavy lifting...and I will have to be very careful not to fall (just imagine...shudder)..there will be no more water parks/theme parks for me...too much jousting around.. BUT, if I am in no or very little pain...and I can drive/go to the stores/travel, basically live a normal life...you betcha...the surgery will have been worth it in a heartbeat.
Do not give up hope...but investigate all of your options....if you have anymore questions, I will try to answer them...I wish you luck, and pray you can find good doctors.
