How to get out of an ETF???

Ok, So I'm getting an iPhone 3GS. But first,I have to get out of my Verizon Contract. My mom says that I have to cancel the contract without having to pay the ETF, How can I do this?? Is there any way to get out of paying the ETF????????
 
There certainly is. If you can find a legitimate reason why you need to leave (e.g. VZW makes a change to your contract that materially affects you adversely, or if you move to an area where VZW does not provide service), they will allow you to leave without an ETF.
