Hmm... Usually cats dont like to sleep in a box. My cat is indoor and outdoor, and spends some of the day out, then sleeps in my room at night.
To get your cat to like the outdoors, here is some step by step instructions! :D
1.Take your cat everyday outside ON A LEASH. letting your cat outside on a LEASH makes him think you dont want him to be free outside, will trigger his curiosity, which will then make him want to explore the outdoors.

2. After your letting your cat on a leash,( Or String, or even holding him) You will tell that he will try to struggle on his holder. This is when you should take the holder off of him, and then let him go. He will most likely just stay on your porch for a little, and then run back inside.

3. Keep doing this everyday, until your cat can stay outisde without running in for about 15 minutes. NEVER leave your cat outside for a long time at the beginning unless HE doesnt come in, because he will get really freaked out by beign outside for so long, that he will not like the outdoors, thinking it of a place where he gets scared.

4. Once your cat can stay outside for 15 minutes with you watching, go inside with your cat still out. If you have a screen, leave that closed, but keep the door open. If you dont have a screen, leave the door a little cracked, but not enought for him to come in. Check on him every five minutes. After about ten to fifteen minutes, bring your cat in, EVEN IF HE DOESNT WANT TO. Give him some kind of treat. Now, since you took him away, even if he didnt want to, he will want to go out again! Each day, add about 5 minutes. Keep your cat inside at nights.

5. After about a week, you can let your cat go out for as long as he wants. Let him in anytime he wants, even if it hasnt been 10 minutes. If you leave him out if he wants to come in, He'll think that if he goes out he might never be able to come back in, and therefore not go out.

6. Now, If you want your cat to go out at night Follow this: This is the easiest. Your cat might have already escaped and gone outside by now, since his curiosity made him, because you didnt allow him before. One night, bring your cat to the door. Open it, and then walk away. Try not to let your cat see you watching him. You cat either might be very cautous in going out, or dart out before anyone could grab him. Let him in when he wants to.

7. If you dont want to cat to go out at night, Do not ever try to let him out. If he happens to escape, do not let him back in. If you do this, it will think anytime he goes outside at night, youll let him back in. The next morning, let him in. Do not give him a treat. But pet him, and play with him alot, so he knows being inside at night is much better than being cold outside at night. Lay down, and let him lay with you.

Be careful as the outdoors can be a dangerous place for pets especially if she's never been out alone. I live in the country so wild animals are the problems but there are also cars and other things to worry about!

Step one: throw the cat outdoors.
Step two: leave the cat outdoors.

Some cats who have been confined indoors all their lives are terrified of the outdoors at first. Leave them out there and they get over it.

leave it outside. that makes it an outdoor cat. I have 2 cats and they both are fine living outside without a litter box.

Start by carrying her outside with supervised sessions. Just watch in case she starts to freak. After a little while, bring her back inside and give her a treat so that reinforces she is to come inside. Even though you have a fenced yard, make sure she knows what the boundaries are, and you can do this by banging a big metal spoon on a big metal pot when she gets close to boundary areas, or use a squirt gun. When you finally let her out by herself, keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't try and climb over or dig under the fence, or that there aren't any other marauding cats that could hurt her or invade her territory. Make sure you train her so that she is inside at dusk.

You can take some of her litter and deposit it in a spot in the yard so she will get the hint about doing her business outside. Definitely a shelter, and I've found those styrofoam coolers make great shelters when you cut out a hole. Make sure it is at least 18 inches off the ground. Get a bird feeder so the birds can amuse her. Definitely water, but not food. You want her to come inside for food (it helps make sure they come home and inside when you want them), as well as food can attract other cats, vermin (rats, skunks, opossums) as well as flies and ants, and will likely spoil quickly outside.

Cats naturally like the outdoors, so I don't think you'll have too many issues with that!

My cats are indoor/outdoor cats and are well trained. They stay in their yard and don't roam. Yes, an indoor cat is safer, but don't let anyone tell you you're a bad cat owner because you want to let your cat outside -- they evolved in the wild with wide-open spaces, not in mortar and brick buildings. I love having the cats in the yard with me.

Good luck.

Why does your cat need to be outdoors??
If you send your cat outside, there is a good chance that she won't come back. She could get lost, hit by a car, attacked by an animal, hurt by nasty people, etc, etc.
Please do not put her outside. If you can no longer care for her, or no longer want to care for her, then please find her a new home or surrender her somewhere where she will at least have a chance.
If she is declawed or not spayed then for sure DO NOT let her out. Please.
Thanks, Good Luck.
