How To Get MMS Working on Eris/Increadable Activated on Alltel

##778 is very limited on the HTC Hero Alltel rom, it has no options for changing anything, on the Eris, it's wide open, there's TONS of menus for changing absolutely everything and opening different PRL files, changing HDR authentication keys, etc... absolutely eliminating the need for using a computer to flash/reprogram the phone to a different carrier.

Here soon I'll probably root the hero and pull the telephony.db from the android OS, and throw it on my guinea pig motorola droid I've got coming, my ERIS is unrootable because my boot rom is the newest one that hasn't been rooted yet, lame, anyhoo, I'll let ya'll know if it works, if it does, I'll go through the telephony.db file and see what kind of sensitive info is in there that makes it work.
 
my ##778 menu has:

Display
A-key
Nam settings
CDMA settings
Home SID/Home NID
Modem Settings
PRL
Security
Data Parameters
Phone Dir
M.IP Settings
M.IP Default Profile
M.IP Cust. Profile 1-6

and i thought android 2.1 wasn't rootable yet, cause thats what mine has.
 
Reaaallllyyy??? ... Weird! My mother's Hero with ##778 will give you the option to view just "Display" and "A-key" .. I'll have to look again next time I visit her. That's exactly what I've got when I hit ##778 on my Eris, that's how I got my Eris on Alltel so easily was through the built in MPST software.
 
I'm sorry I need to revive this thread. But has there been any solution to getting MMS working on "other" Android phones on Alltel? I have an Incredible on Alltel and have everything working except MMS. I can receive all day but sending out is the issue. I have have what should be the correct settings pulled from an Alltel Hero and even the APN config. But I have seen mention here and there of telephony.db being something of interest as well. Is there anyone that has an idea or can point me to the resources for a solution?

I have a motorola droid that runs 3g sometimes 1x all the time but no mms can be sent, BUT
i can recieve sort of. I recieve thumbnail pictures. Telephony.db soon? maybe?? possibly work on this?
 
I'm in the same boat here myself actually. Even though 3g is showing up though randomly, I don't think it actually is working properly on your phone, mine does the same but it only shows that when it's trying to authenticate. Otherwise you're actually always on 1x only. I'm thinking lately that MMS isn't going to work for us until we get the 3g working perfectly, and not just trying log in attempts over and over. The apn info would be defiantly helpful though as that's going to be my next step for sure!
