about 2 days ago we got a maltese puppy, but whenever we get ready to go to bed we put her in a kennel because we don't want to step on her in the middle of the night and we don't want her using the bathroom throughout the house.
But whenever we put her in the kennel, she immediately starts to run around the kennel, jumping up and tries to bite through the bars, also she whines and howls uncontrollably. I have tried staying close to her, and even petting her through the cage to help soothe her, but that didnt work.
Is there anything I can do to keep her from barking in her kennel? should we just ignore her whining and pacing? if we do ignore her, is this in anyway traumatizing, even if she completely freaks out when we do it?
also, I have tried putting in a toy with her, putting in treats, laying a heating pad under the blankets, but it doesnt work.
